Power Department, Government of NCT of Delhi

The Department of Power, Government of NCT of Delhi, oversees policy formulation, planning, and coordination for the electricity sector in Delhi. It was created to facilitate power sector reforms and ensure reliable, affordable electricity supply. The department manages generation, transmission, and distribution through coordination with entities like Delhi Transco Limited (DTL), Delhi Power Company Limited (DPCL), Indraprastha Power Generation Company Ltd. (IPGCL), Pragati Power Corporation Ltd., and private DISCOMs such as BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna, and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. It also works with the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) for tariff regulation. The department’s mission is to provide uninterrupted, quality power and promote energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives for sustainable growth in the capital.
